The Pittsburgh Pirates will host the St. Louis Cardinals for Game two of their divisional set this Saturday from PNC Park.Pittsburgh took Game one after a big seventh inning, 7-5.

Cardinals Betting Preview

St. Louis moved to 25-33 after losing to Pittsburgh. The Cardinals opened the month with a defeat, and they’ll look to clean that up immediately Saturday. The St. Louis' offense is scoring 4.44 runs per Game, while batting .258, with a .328 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.64 ERA, with a 1.49 WHIP. Paul Goldschmidt has recorded multiple hits in three of the last six Games, and he leads the Cards in hits (64) and batting (.287). Nolan Gorman has produced a run in consecutive Games, and he’s first on the team in HR (13) and RBI (42).

Jordan Montgomery (2-6, 4.48 ERA, 55 Ks) will start for St. Louis. The seventh-year lefty has gone cold since a 2-0 start, taking the loss in six of his next seven spots. Montgomery delivered mixed results in his last two outings in Ohio, struggling with Cleveland, but putting up a fight in Cincinnati last week. Montgomery’s volatility makes him tough to trust right now.

Pirates Betting Preview

Pittsburgh comes in at 29-27 after defeating St. Louis. The Pirates have found some momentum with their third straight victory, and they’ll look to keep things going here. The Pittsburgh offense is scoring 3.95 runs per Game, while batting .244, with a .322 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.82 ERA, with a 1.30 WHIP. Bryan Reynolds produced three runs in the Game three victory over San Fran, and he leads the Pirates in BA (.277) and RBI (36). Carlos Santana collected three hits in win over the Cards, and he’s second on the team at 26 RBI.

Luis Ortiz (1-2, 4.35 ERA, 14 Ks) will pitch for Pittsburgh. The second-year pitcher went five innings in Seattle last week, allowing three runs, but managing to toss a season-high six strikeouts. Ortiz earned his first victory in his last home spot, going 7.2 innings versus a strong Texas lineup, while allowing just two runs.

St. Louis vs Pittsburgh Trends

St. Louis is 27-24 against the spread this season, with a 25-22-1 O/U record. Pittsburgh is 25-21 ATS this year, with a 23-22-1 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Jordan Montgomery’s recent form makes him a target in this road spot, and I think the Pirates can find some production off of him here. Montgomery is winless in his last eight starts, while Pittsburgh is enjoying a three-Game win streak themselves. Back the Pirates in Game two, and double down with the Over, as the Cards possess a capable lineup themselves.
