Meta launches conversation app Threads, rivalling troubled Twitter

In a bid to challenge the embattled social media giant Twitter, Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has unveiled its new conversation app called Threads.

The move comes as Meta aims to tap into the growing demand for alternative platforms that “prioritise meaningful and constructive discussions”.

Threads, which is being hailed as Meta’s answer to Twitter, aims to provide users with a platform for engaging in focused and productive conversations.

The app’s design focuses on threading conversations, allowing users to follow and participate in specific discussions with ease. This unique approach sets Threads apart from other social media platforms, offering users a more streamlined and organised conversational experience.

The launch of Threads comes at a time when Twitter has faced significant scrutiny over its handling of misinformation, harassment, and abuse on the platform. Meta aims to position Threads as a safer and more inclusive space, addressing concerns surrounding user safety and content moderation that have plagued Twitter recently.
